Boating Is Back At Two Medicine And St. Mary
Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) inspection stations at Two Medicine Lake and St. Mary Lake in Glacier National Park will open on Thursday, July 20, allowing boating opportunities for the first time since 2019.
The Blackfeet Tribe will operate the inspection stations in partnership with the park. Motorized boat inspections from specific entities are accepted but require a 30-day quarantine before use in park waters, while non-motorized water-crafts must undergo inspections upon each entry to the park.
The inspections are to protect against non-native species that could harm native aquatic ecosystems and to ensure the preservation of the park's critical headwaters.
