Who Is Paying For This?

Four Missoula City Council members are co-sponsoring a resolution to shift the financial responsibility for construction in the right-of-way from adjacent property owners to the city.

This proposal follows the approval of the Ivy/Franklin Greenway project, which could cost property owners thousands for sidewalk, curbing, and gutter improvements.

The resolution estimates an annual cost of $150,000 for the city, suggesting the funds could be sourced from the Road District Fund or an increase in property taxes on the fund, with council member Daniel Carlino emphasizing the goal to relieve property owners from significant costs.
