Tele-Health Site for Veteran Students
The VA has opened two new tele-health sites for veterans in Montana. They’re being called ATLAS sites. ATLAS stands for Accessing Telehealth through Local Area Stations. One of the two new sites is at the University of Montana in Missoula, and the other is at Montana State in Bozeman.
The ATLAS sites give students and faculty members who are veterans the option to connect with their VA providers at either campus. ATLAS provides private spaces equipped with high-speed internet access, site attendant support and technology needed for video tele-health visits through VA Video Connect.
Pat Beckwith, director of UM Military and Veteran Services, called this a groundbreaking step in the care for our veterans adding that “No other universities in the nation provide VA tele-health services like this on their campuses." The ATLAS site will assist the 1,400 military-affiliated students who attend UM, which this year earned a Gold ranking for being a Military Friendly School from MilitaryFriendly.com.
