Montana Gets Support Investigating Rape Cases

Montana has received a $2.1 million federal grant to support the state's response to sexual assault investigations and prosecutions.

The grant will be used to re-test backlogged sexual assault kits, expedite criminal investigations, and resolve cold cases involving sexual violence.

It will also create three positions within the Montana Department of Justice's Sexual Assault Kit Initiative program, including a cold case investigator, a crime analyst, and a coordinator.

The funding will help eliminate the rape kit backlog and reinforce the state's strategy against sexual assault.
