Marshall Mountain Moves Forward

The resolution put forward by Missoula County Commissioners received unanimous approval with a 3-0 vote, and likewise, the Missoula City Council voted 9-2 in favor of adopting it.

This decision followed a public hearing held at the Missoula Public Library, where representatives from both the city and county convened to discuss a million-dollar resolution pertaining to the Marshall Mountain Project.

Before the city and county voted on allocating two million dollars in open space bonds for the Marshall Mountain Park Project, Missoula residents voiced their opinions during the public comment period. The expressed views encompassed the positive environmental impacts and abundant recreational opportunities offered by the area, but there were also concerns raised by some residents regarding the financial implications of the resolution, including Missoula's existing tax issues.

A final determination regarding county ownership and management of Marshall Mountain should come sometime this winter.
