What Is the Mountain of Giving program and the Griz for Kids Toy Drive?
The Mountain of Giving is a community-wide effort to raise money and donations of new toys for children in need at the holidays, sponsored, organized, and coordinated by the Mountain Broadcasting Foundation (a 501c3). For almost two decades we have been privileged to use our Mountain of Giving program to make sure children in need experience the joy of the holidays.
The Griz for Kids Toy Drive kicks off the season of giving each year at a Grizzly football game.
The Griz for Kids Toy Drive was inspired by UM Grizzly football player and center Chris Orwig who said the entire team felt incredible fan support from the community and they wanted to give back. In order to assist the Mountain of Giving program, he helped organize the first toy drive at a Griz game in 2005. Each year, the University of Montana and Grizzly Athletics have continued to support the Drive.
The Griz for Kids Toy Drive is coordinated and staffed by volunteers from Mountain Broadcasting, NBC Montana and our Partner agencies and facilitated by support from UM Athletics, Beach Transportation and Missoula Federal Credit Union.
After the Griz for Kids Toy Drive, our Partner agencies fill as many Christmas wishes as possible. The remaining wishes from children in their programs are listed on individual tags which are distributed to generous local businesses and organizations and displayed on Christmas trees.
Donors take a tag, shop for a gift, and bring the gift and tag back to the same tree or to the Mountain Broadcasting office. Our Mountain Broadcasting staff picks up those gifts and delivers them to our Partner agencies to distribute to the children and their families.
Griz for Kids Toy Drive 2017
On November 4, bring your donations of toys or cash to the Griz for Kids Toy Drive prior to the Grizzly – NAU game at Washington-Grizzly stadium from 1:00pm – 3:30pm. Volunteers will be located at each entrance to the stadium to collect toys and donations for the Griz for Kids drive.
Can I Still Help After Nov. 4th?
