The Missoula City Council will vote today, Monday, on whether to make some controversial changes to the city’s tobacco ordinance. The chances include a ban on vaping indoors in retail stores, except Vape Shops. A group of vape shops requested an exemption that would allow them to let new customers try vaping in their stores. The health department wrote the exemption under protest at the council’s request. The amended ordinance would also allow other businesses that are adjacent to public spaces (like those downtown) to prohibit smoking or vaping within 25 feet of their doors, if they post the ban and enforce it.
